Chart 1: Application procedures of HKITPC

Application Procedures

The CPIT credential scheme is supervised by the Certification Board of HKITPC and administered by the HKITPC Secretariat Office. To apply for a CPIT credential, the applicant will go through the procedures illustrated in Chart 1. All required information and documentations for each application must be submitted within 6 months from the date of application.

Submission of Application

An application will only be accepted for processing when a completed application package is submitted in person to the HKITPC Secretariat (Room 1801, 18/F, Tai Tung Building, 8 Fleming Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong). The application package must contain:

  • A duly signed Application Form completed according to the instructions stated in the form

  • Payment of application fee (please refer to Fee for details)

  • Photocopies of supporting documentations in A4 size for all submitted academic/professional qualifications and professional work experience (e.g., academic and/or professional credentials, reference letters, etc)


Credential and Experience Verification

For the verification purpose, applicants should:

  • Present the original supporting documentations to the HKITPC Secretariat Office for verification at the time of application submission

  • Provide referees contact information


Submission of Essay

Applicants deemed satisfying both the general specialization requirements for the respective CPIT credential will be requested by email to submit an essay on or before a deadline. Normally a period of 6 weeks will be provided for the essay preparation. The essay should best exemplify the applicant's professional competencies in compliance with the requirements stipulated in the respective application guide.


Interview

If the submitted essay is found satisfactory after evalued by an Assessment Panel, the applicant will be invited to attend an interview to be conducted complying with the guidelines described in the respective application guide.

The interview invitation will be sent by email. The HKITPC Secretariat Office will offer 3 tentative interview schedules for the applicant's selection. The applicant is obligated to attend the interview at one of the provided schedules. Applicants who encounter special circumstances (e.g., overseas business trip, medical emergency) preventing them from scheduling the interview at the provided timeslots must inform the HKITPC Secretariat Office with justification and supporting documentations within 7 business days from the invitation is sent.


Result Notification

The application result notification will be sent to applicants by post.


Interview Cancellation, rescheduling or Absence

To cancel or reschedule the interview, the applicant must notify the HKITPC Secretariat Office by email 3 business days prior to the scheduled interview. Candidates are permitted to request fro rescheduling the interview ONCE.

Applicants failing to comply with the aforementioned guidelines will risk termination of the assessment process and forfeiture of the full application fee. To reactivate the interview scheduling, a HKD1,750.00 re-interview fee will be charged.

Applicants absent from the scheduled interview due to extenuating circumstances (i.e., medical emergency, death in the family, etc) must submit an explanation of their circumstances with supporting documentations to the HKITPC Secretariat Office within 3 business days after the scheduled interview date.

The HKITPC reserves the authority to review, accept and reject the claimed justification for absence at interviews. If the submitted explanation is not reckoned to be extenuating, the applicant will need to request for a re-interview and pay the re-interview fee of HKD1,750.00. The interview rescheduling period is 6 months at maximum.
